Does the build still work on BE arches with this? I know at one point
the above wouldn't compile on those
arches. See commit 536abdb0802f, for an explanation.

Does the build still work on BE arches with this? I know at one point
the above wouldn't compile on those

It compiles OK for me for s390, ia64, sparc64, sh, alpha, powerpc, arm,
m68k.

I'll toss it in there and see what Fengguang's buildbot has to say.
